Dear Diary

My mind is drawing blanks or there’s too much on my mind to process things. Mondays. Everyone hates Mondays because it signifies going back to reality. All the excitement of the weekend has faded away as you go throughout the week anxiously waiting for Friday to come so you can sink back into the rabbit hole. Now Tuesdays make you feel like you’re one step closer to Friday, plus it’s also Taco Tuesday. You end up smiling a little more and being a little less grouchy because tomorrow is the day you get over the hurdle. Hump day: beloved Wednesday, you’re mood is slowly getting better and you’re already making plans for the weekend; you need a break. Thursday rolls in and everyone is suddenly your best friend; you’ve solidified your plans or you opt for a nice quiet weekend to yourself. Friday comes and can’t nobody tell you shit! You slack off as work because fuck this, it’s Friday. You leave work in a hurry and might even stop at the liquor store before you get home; time to unwind. Sounds nice. Saturday comes and goes like the switch between seasons in Canada; one minute it’s nice and sunny, then it gets windy for like a month, then BOOM winter. No warning: you wake up and there’s snow on the ground; while each season is suppose to last 3 months, fall only stays for one. Then you wake up Sunday afternoon annoyed because tomorrow, it’s back to reality. Back to the trenches in a war that we face against ourselves daily. Something’s gotta give. I can’t keep feeling the same way about the days anymore. Years of being pessimistic has clouded my mind from hopefulness for a long time but it’s time to be more optimistic. Who said we have to wait until the weekend to feel free? It’s a struggle every day but you gotta roll on like Tupac said, determination is key. I realized that only I can change the way I interact with the world: I can either approach it with more faith or continue to live with doubt. It’s Tuesday, so approach it with more enthusiasm and leave the negative energy behind you. Mental clarity will always be the most important goal.
